The Opportunity

Our location in Columbus, OH, currently has an opportunity for an Associate, Sales Strategy.

What You’ll Work On

  • Serves as the voice of the customer and the field sales force to the business units. Serves as the marketing voice during sales presentations of key initiatives to key customers.
  • Assist TN Sales Strategy managers to co-develop and implement retail sales, pricing, profit and growth strategies and tactics while collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver top line, bottom line, sales, margin, and share goals
  • Sales/commercial coordination and ownership of retail display process strategy and execution
  • Project coordinator for tactical execution of retail new item launch kits (Packaging, taste samples, vendor selection and project management)
  • Coordinates sales launch meetings for brand planning / new item launches.
  • Owns and coordinates brand promotional cadence (FSIs) to the retail field along with supporting marketing material
  • Supports Sales Strategy Managers with ad-hoc analytical support pending business needs (inclusive of S&OP support information for retail)
  • Develop, own, and manage relationship and ANPD strategy and execution of liquidator/discount channel
  • Drives consistent profitable growth and increased market share by managing the complexity of business (forecast, funding, share) with a total retail understanding of the impact across all channels of business and functions including eCommerce
  • Helps develop and implement total retail strategy for Abbott Nutrition Brands
  • Partners with customer teams on promotional development, negotiations, communication of launch strategy
  • Partners with internal teams on new item launches, brand retail strategy (inclusive of 4Ps) and retail execution
  • Provides input into sales force detailed plans
  • Ensure that the sales team achieves internal and customer specific financial and non-financial goals

Position/Accountability/Scope

  • Ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects.
  • Adapts precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.
  • Operates independently within own scope of responsibility under minimal supervision. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
  • Demonstrates comfort in dealing with and turning ambiguity into thought leadership
  • Demonstrated hands-on execution and problem-solving capabilities with ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Performs non-repetitive, analytical work. Uses a wide application of principles, theories, concepts, and draws on previous experience to determine a course of action.
  • Handles both tactical and strategic work. Participates in projects such as the development of sales/marketing plans, forecasts, however generally informed of decisions made through the process for execution.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of customer P&L management. Work with customer and internal finance teams on financial management with solid understanding of gross and promo margin management, trade spend efficiency, and overall customer funding management.
  • Develops solutions to complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
  • Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results could result in the expenditure of large amounts of company resources.
  • Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years of progressive industry experience with progressive role responsibility
  • Strong financial acumen. Direct P&L management/ownership a plus
  • Baseline knowledge of retail sales, trade, category management, shopper/category development, and sales/marketing concepts and methods.
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Ability to independently create and manipulate data in MS Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to independently create presentations in MS PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills
